RMJ was personally invited to a brand new social event by ConArtists Guild and LNdour Sunday 9.06.09 as they translate Soho to DC @Studio10. Like such private NYC happenings, all individuals attending this event are of an exclusive order, where style equals substance. The specs below:

Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Adam Goldstein. Its always sad when someone from the culture leaves, especially at such a young age of 36.

WALE x UCB x MTV = FTW
Wale and UCB set to be this year MTV VMA’s, house band. Great look for the DMV! Lets goo! October 20th is right around the corner, we gotta show the world what we made of!
XXL Freshman alum Wale and his go-go band UCB have been confirmed as the house band for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards next month, reports the Associated Press.
Wale will be joining Jay-Z, Beyonce, Green Day, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. He will also be following in his Allido label head Mark Ronson’s shoes. Ronson served as the 2007 VMA band leader.
Wale is currently prepping his major label debut. The disc, titled Attention: Deficit, is set to hit shelves on October 20. Along with Ronson, the Washington, D.C. native has recruited a long list of heavyweights to provide the CD’s soundscape, including Sean C and LV, Dave Sitek of indie group TV on the Radio and Cool & Dre, who are responsible for Wale’s single “Chillin’” with Lady Gaga. Bun B, K’Naan, Marsha Ambrosius and Jazmine Sullivan were also drafted to share mic time with Wale.
The MTV VMAs will air live at 9 p.m. on September 13

Last Tuesday was Funkadelic Freestyles “preseason opener,” and since we’re using all these sports analogies lately – it was only fitting to bring in Mr. Starting-On-JV-himself, Phil Ade. Phil released an incredibly dope mixtape this past July with Raheem DeVaughn’s new boutique label 368 Music Group. We spent nearly two hours chopping it up with Phil and his mentor Dre the Mayor, which concluded with a ridiculously-long freestyle.

Came accross these while browsing MarcusTroy’s blog. Not particularly a big fan of the Coverse x John V arvatos line, but that doesnt mean they dont produce a solid collection most seasons. I must say, these hi/lo premium leather (I assume) chucks are something I will be looking forward to. The 2 tone leather basket weave and what looks to be leather boot laces, looks especially good in the brown, the tonal black is very nice and subtle as well. The “vintage/used” finish just adds to the characte of the shoe. Very reminiscent of the damier LV shoes from a few seasons ago w/o the price. Definitely purchased upon release.

Hence why the good folks from Funkadelic Freestyles, the increasingly-popular weekly independent hip-hop radio show out of The George Washington University in Washington, DC, picked the summer season to broaden their audience. With a tremendous amount of help from their like-minded hip-hop peer, FWMJ of Rappers I Know, they’re proud to present their first-ever collaborative mixtape featuring all new and original music from artists like Oddisee, Danny Brown, X.O., Finale, Kay of The Foundation, Che Grand, Senor Kaos & DJ Spinna, Trackademicks, Akrobatik, Mr. Lif, and many more. The first volume of music bears the title “The Off Season,” in reference to the lengthy summer hiatus between college semesters. Malin + Goetz released their cannabis candle some time ago and it has generated some attention from weed connoisseurs to scent aficionados. Although it doesn’t smell exactly like marijuana it is said that the “sexy green cannabis and spicy extracts blend for their uplifting intoxication and general aphrodisia.”
Blended with a citrus, pepper, and woody scent, the candle is said to be mood-altering, similar to one of the effects of the drug.
I’ll definitely be looking to purchase one of these in the near future, not just for the shock appeal, but because it actually smells good. If you’re expecting this candle to smell just like the drug you are going to be pleasantly disappointed.
